In 1990, an MTW team arrived in Bogota for church planting, and a pastoral training program was formed. One church was planted in Bogota, and three churches from other areas of Colombia were added to the group. In 2001 the MTW team exited Colombia, leaving a small presbytery and a training program in place. In March of 2007 we returned to Bogota to develop a team and to work with the presbytery in theological training and church planting. We now have five church plants in the country, two churches in Cucuta in process to join the presbytery, and an international, English-speaking church in Bogota.

Current Needs
1. Theological teachers for pastoral training - to work with Colombian men in the MINTS program. 2. Discipleship - to work with Colombian men and women in Christian discipleship in the churches. 3. Music - to help develop a music program for existing churches and to develop and train music leaders for church plants. 4. Youth leaders - to develop a youth program for existing churches and/or church plants. 5. Children's ministry to work with the children in the school in Santa Marta (on the coast). 6. Short-term director to develop and maintain a program for short-term visitors from U.S. churches. 7. Pastor for the international, English-speaking church.
Special Projects:
Financial support needs:
- Pastoral training program – funds needed for books, teaching materials, travel, and scholarships.
- Church-planting program – funds needed to help with national church-planter funding, facility rental, and church supplies.
- Diaconal program – funds needed to help with urgent needs within the congregations.
We need prayer for all of these and for the entire ministry. Particularly, we need prayer for:
- Three pastoral candidates studying in Cucuta, Colombia.
- For unity with the Colombian pastors.
- For the new church plants, that God would bless them with growth and mature leaders.

Cultural and Ministry Context
Colombia was a very dangerous place to live several years ago. Recently, though, it has calmed down greatly. It is now more stable than ever before, especially in the major cities. Bogota is a beautiful city and a great place to live. It is in the Andes mountain range and sits at about 8,500 feet in elevation, and is, therefore, cool year-round. The temperature ranges from a high of 75 to a low of 50 degrees. It is close to the equator, so the temperature does not vary much and the sun rises at 6 a.m. and sets at 6 p.m. year-round. Because of the constant climate and plenty of rain, the flowers bloom year round and the foliage is beautiful all year. The coastal regions are hot and beautiful. Santa Marta and Barranquilla are on the Caribbean coast. The Colombians are very bright and warm, so working with them is a real joy. | We are excited about your interest in a long-term commitment to missions service.
MTW uses a team-based approach to missions. For that reason, we actively seek missionaries from a variety of backgrounds—ordained or unordained, singles and families, men and women—and with many different ministry skills and interests.
Though MTW's first priority is church planting, we also have missionaries working in a variety of other ministries such as teaching, medicine, community development, and administration.
We currently have one- and two-year and long-term ministry opportunities in over 50 different countries around the world. You are needed on the mission field!
