Overview
The Medical Ministry of Mission to the World is characterized by a heart to serve the Lord in both word and deed—carrying out the gospel through mercy ministry and augmenting church growth.
Short-Term Trips
Medical teams composed of doctors, dentists, therapists, students and non-medical personnel join together to help spread, through the practical gift of medicine, the truth of the healing power of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our ministry is blessed to have worked in over 20 countries, assisting local missionaries and national church planters.
Impact
Several years ago, a medical team traveled with a national pastor to a small village in South Asia where two recent seminary graduates were beginning one of the first outreaches of a local church. A small medical clinic was held there; shortly thereafter, the tsunami hit Asia, and MTW responded by sending medical teams to villages in that country. Since that time, the church in that area has grown rapidly, a street child ministry has blossomed, and the vision to plant seeds of faith in a much larger area has seen incredible fruit.
The healing and compassionate ministry of health care workers alongside dedicated nationals has been highly effective in bringing people in touch with the Good News. To this end, the short-term medical teams are now incorporated in that country's overall strategic ministry plan. This is only one story of many around the globe where short-term medical teams have made a positive impact on existing ministries and, in some cases, have opened the door for new ministries.
Long-Term Medical Missions
Our career medical missionaries are dedicating their lives to acts of service, weaving the gospel and discipleship into direct patient care, training community health workers, and building relationships with nationals. Our short-term medical teams work alongside these missionaries to assist them in growing their ministry and the local church.
