Current Needs
Church planters and seminary professors needed to teach and mentor emerging leaders. Business ministries director needed to work alongside a program of training and outreach through business development. Youth worker needed to aid in the establishment of an evangelistic youth program for the Odessa churches and train/equip nationals to take over the program, for two years to long-term. Our team needs people who will be living examples of what it means to live a joyful life in a passionate relationship with God. We especially need men who can train and equip our many emerging leaders and show them what it means to be a servant leader. Leadership here can often be harsh and controlling; servant leadership will be much better understood when lived out through the example of a godly man. |
Cultural and Ministry Context
Odessa is a proud and beautiful town in southern Ukraine located on the Black Sea. Most people there will tell you they are not Ukrainian, they are Odessan! Because of the many resorts and festivals, Odessa sometimes seems more Mediterranean than post-Soviet. People across the former USSR know it as a city of humor, with a festive personality and friendly people. The winters are cold and snowy, and the summers are usually mild. Many Odessans speak English, though Russian is most used, and Odessa has its own slang-a Ukrainian/Russian mix with a Jewish flavor. The majority of the people there claim to be Russian Orthodox, but few profess a personal relationship with Christ. | We are excited about your interest in a long-term commitment to missions service.
MTW uses a team-based approach to missions. For that reason, we actively seek missionaries from a variety of backgrounds—ordained or unordained, singles and families, men and women—and with many different ministry skills and interests.
Though MTW's first priority is church planting, we also have missionaries working in a variety of other ministries such as teaching, medicine, community development, and administration.
We currently have one- and two-year and long-term ministry opportunities in over 50 different countries around the world. You are needed on the mission field!
