Cultural and Ministry Context
Spain has a population of 45 million, and greater Madrid has a population of 6 million. Spain is the least evangelized Spanish-speaking country, with less that 2% claiming to be evangelical Christians.
Spain has the second greatest percentage of immigrants of any country in the world (after the U.S.). Most immigrants come from Morocco, Eastern Europe and South America. Immigrants are having a huge impact on church planting and church growth, as they are often more open to the gospel than Spaniards.
Younger Spaniards tend to be open-minded, post-Christian, and skeptical; older Spaniards tend to be more traditional and self-reliant. Often Spaniards are slow to trust outsiders; however, once one breaks through the surface, many will become faithful friends, and some will open their hearts to Christ and the gospel. | We are excited about your interest in a long-term commitment to missions service.
MTW uses a team-based approach to missions. For that reason, we actively seek missionaries from a variety of backgrounds—ordained or unordained, singles and families, men and women—and with many different ministry skills and interests.
Though MTW's first priority is church planting, we also have missionaries working in a variety of other ministries such as teaching, medicine, community development, and administration.
We currently have one- and two-year and long-term ministry opportunities in over 50 different countries around the world. You are needed on the mission field!

Spain
· type: evangelism, discipleship, music, ESL, sports
· level: 3
· medical/political climate: low risk
The culture of Spain is vibrant, open-minded, relational, increasingly skeptical, and historically Roman Catholic. Younger generations in Spain are increasingly interested in various forms of spirituality and many have a strong need to learn English. This is a relatively new MTW team with a small team of missionaries engaged in evangelism, discipleship, and university ministry. Short-term teams and interns are needed to help with evangelism and outreach. Currently there are limited opportunities for 2 week teams to engage with Spanish university students using conversational English/Spanish and sports as well as potential ESL possibilities. A majority of team members must speak at least intermediate level Spanish.
See all two week opportunities in Europe.
Listed below are one to eleven month internship opportunities in this region. As an intern you will assist MTW long-term missionaries.

MTW Internships are designed to give the participant a taste of missionary life and ministry experience overseas, as well as enable many to confirm their calling. The Internship Program provides opportunities for individuals, couples, and families to assist MTW missionaries and our ministry partners from 1-11 months. Volunteer interns serve from one to five months. Salaried interns serve from six to eleven months. The budget for an intern ranges from $2,000-$3,500 per month.
